OBESITY AND OVERWEIGHT WHAT SWEETENERS AND SUGARS DO WE CONSUME?

NOTE: This is an extremely important study below because you see how many products are adding sweeteners like aspartame, and you may not know they exist in what you're eating or how much. You really have to give up processed foods if you want to be safe. Notice even in milk and here in the US the FDA has allowed aspartame in 17 dairy products without labeling which is against the law. Notice sweeteners in sausage and last year there was a note in Google that Neotame, a stronger aspartame, was being added to pork. I found out the hard way in sausage when I ate a bite in spaghetti sauce and got a terrible headache because aspartame victims are chemically hypersensitive. With aspartame comes chemical hypersensitization so it's easy for victims to know when its in a product in an unfortunate manner. So many aspartame victims have to carry epi-pens because many have gone into anaphylactic shock. Consider in the documentary "Sweet Misery: A Poisoned World" Cheryl Kemptner who told the hospital she could not have aspartame and was chemically hypersensitive. They gave her some Crystal Lite and she became a Code Blue and had to be resuscitated to save her life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9DLAkjt_gU

Just recently in the hospital I had a piece of Russell Stover candy and after having a horrible aspartame reaction found Vanillin on the label which is genetically engineered with aspartame and now half the molecule of the new aspartame product Advantame. The other half is aspartame. Another Frankenstein product! This study shows you more and more we have to at least check the label of anything we eat.

Remember that even the FDA admitted from the beginning that aspartame caused cancer. The Ramazzini Studies and the Harvard study confirmed it, and that it causes the blood cancers like leukemia. So new drugs are coming out for leukemia and I found aspartame in one of them. Now there is news on another: Imbruvica for leukemia. I looked for ingredients to see if there was aspartame or sucralose. I didn't find either one in the ingredients but found sucralose in information on the patent:

https://patents.google.com/patent/US20160287594A1/en
Ibrutinib is marked in the US in oral capsule form (Imbruvica). [0005] ... citric acid monohydrate, disodium hydrogen phosphate, sucralose, sodium methyl ...

Remember that Dr. Morando Soffritti of the Ramazzini Institute did a study on sucralose and found it caused cancer which means it too is illegally on the market because it violates the Delaney clause. Not a peep from the FDA who protects Big Pharma and several of their scientists admitted in 2009 that they were broken, corrupt and whistleblowers feared reprisals.

So the FDA in doing nothing with full knowledge is responsible for millions of deaths the world over. They mislead the public after also sealing the teratology studies causing such things as neural tube birth defects and autism to flourish the world over. MIT says by 2025 one out of two babies born will be autistic. Where are the courageous attorneys and media who could put an end to it. Consider aspartame is a seizure triggering drug and the FDA allows anti-seizure medication to have aspartame. Aspartame causes gastrointestinal disease and they have aspartame in most all the generic gastrointestinal drugs. Aspartame damages the mitochondria and interacts with drugs and vaccines. It not only can precipitate diabetes but interacts with insulin, destroys the optic nerve from the methanol and causes diabetics to go into convulsions. Where are the courageous journalists and attorneys to stop what Dr. James Bowen told the FDA was mass poisoning by aspartame. The biggest study in the world was done on the consumer public since aspartame was never proven safe.

Likewise acesulfame potassium caused cancer and leukemia in original studies also violating the Delaney clause. The only really safe sweetener I know of is "Just Like Sugar" because it's made from organic food, chicory and orange peel.

If you want to save your life, at least start reading the labels. If you don't buy it, they can't sell it. Get off this addictive poison.

In recent decades, studies have shown that an excessive intake of added sugars has detrimental effects on health, as it contributes to the increase in the rates of overweight and obesity and an increased risk of diabetes .

In 2015 the World Health Organization (WHO) issued recommendations on the consumption of added sugars in children and adults , and agreed to limit its consumption to less than 10% (firm indication) and even less than 5% (conditional indication) of the amount of daily energy.

Now, new research led by experts from CEU San Pablo University and the Spanish Nutrition Foundation analyzes the presence of added sugars and their usual substitutes, low-calorie or no-calorie sweeteners , in 1,164 products among the main food groups consumed in our country -with data from the ANIBES study-.

"Currently, processed and ultraprocessed products are one of the main sources of added sugars in our diet, and the increase in consumption in developed countries, including Spain, has been significant in the last twenty years," he explains to Sinc. María de Lourdes Samaniego Vaesken, principal author of the study and assistant professor at CEU San Pablo.

Among the products analyzed, 42% included some type of added sugar and 10% presented sweeteners in their list of ingredients. Only 5% of the products declared to contain sugars and sweeteners together.

The results, pioneers in Spain and published in the journal Nutrients , reveal that low-calorie or no-calorie sweeteners are present in 100% of carbonated beverages without sugar, in 89% of sweets such as candies and chewing gums without sugar, in the 45% of soy drinks, and in 18% of fermented yogurts and milk.

On the other hand, added sugars were found in 100% of the sugary soft drinks, 96% of the energy and isotonic drinks, 100% of the bakery and confectionery products, chocolates and ice cream, 96% of the breakfast cereals and cereal bars and 89% of jams.

The content of sausages and other meat products and fish products attracts more attention . Thus, the authors observed the presence of added sugars in 86% of sausages and other subgroups of meat products (ie, bacon, chorizo, etc.) and in 14% of fish derivatives. Low-calorie or no-calorie sweeteners were also present in 8.5% of sausages and other meat products.

In addition, canned legumes and fruits presented 78 and 63% of products with added sugars, respectively, while only 10% of the canned vegetables evaluated did so.

As for ready-to-eat meals, it was found that 61% of the products evaluated contained added sugars. Likewise, the snacks analyzed had added sugars in 8% of the products. Finally, in sauces and condiments, 57% of the products evaluated contained added sugars.

The main types of sweeteners identified were acesulfame K, sucralose, aspartame and cyclamate. The types of added sugars used in the products evaluated were sucrose, dextrose, glucose-fructose syrup, caramel and honey.

"Our data show the diversity of food groups that include these ingredients," adds Samaniego. "The main limitation we found was the absence of the levels or added quantities of each of them in the labeling, since European legislation does not require such a declaration."

Insurance, but information is missing

The food industry has increased the use of sweeteners in foods and beverages as sugar substitutes in the last thirty years. This has been the case because consumers have become aware of the reduction in the intake of foods rich in this ingredient.

Although the European Food Safety Agency and the available scientific evidence support its safety in the added levels of food additives , the data regarding the consumption of the different types of sweeteners and sugars contained in commercialized foods and beverages are limited.

"Moreover, these data are not compiled in the Food Composition Databases, which should be updated periodically and include added sweeteners and sugars to facilitate their evaluation and monitoring in nutritional surveys," concludes Samaniego.
