Lane Shore has been scanning in some documents for me and this one you might want to keep. It looks like they have tried for pre-emption of FDA in the past, and just didn't make it. Now they
are trying to write a bill for such, but it should be stopped at all costs. At least this gives us the reasons to stop this pre-emption.
This legal document is from the Congress of the United States. It is about state law and the FDA. It takes into consideration many factors. Pay close attention to page 26. It says that the voluntary physician reporting system on which FDA relies for collecting real-time information on drug side effects identifies fewer than 1% of serious side effects. As in the case for aspartame, the Ecologist magazine stated the 10,000 complaints received by FDA and clearly stated that the FDA says that less than 1% ever report anything so they figure at least 1,000,000 people may have been affected by aspartame.
