It was excellent and I'm glad you cautioned on aspartame. But you need to go further, and make sure that dangerous sweeteners like aspartame and sucralose and acesulfame potassium are never given to children, or anyone for that matter. Feingold, the ADD people have already banned aspartame and they say even the names ADD and ADHD were not even used until the early 80's when this was approved. Would you want them to get cancer as aspartame is a multipotential carcinogen? Another press release is needed banning aspartame from any school.

On Monday, Morando Soffritti, M..D., Scientific Director of the European Foundation for Oncology and Environment Sciences "B. Ramazzini" in Bologna, Italy received the prestigious Irving J. Selikoff Award and gave a lecture on a new study on aspartame with small doses. After his first study in 2005 that made world news proving aspartame to be a multipotential carcinogen, confirming FDA's original records, the European Ramazzini Foundation began a second long term experiment, administering aspartame at low doses in food to rats beginning during fetal life. Dr. Soffritti's new study suggests a danger to unborn babies and especially to children, including the risk of breast cancer as the child ages. In original studies by Searle aspartame also triggered mammary tumors big time. He says aspartame causes leukemia, lymphoma and pelvis and kidney tumors. In his first study only the rats fed aspartame developed malignant brain tumors. Aspartame breaks down to diketopiperazine, a brain tumor agent that triggered brain tumors in original studies. In the Bressler Report or FDA audit, it explains how Searle, the original manufacturer were excising the brain tumors, putting the rats back in the study, and then resurrecting them on paper when they died. Roberts, Dr. Russell Blaylock and myself spoke to Jerome Bressler and he said it was so bad when the FDA retyped his report they removed the most damning 20%. They to this day refuse to release it even to a congressman.
Dr. Soffritti mentioned in his lecture that aspartame is in 500 drugs, and I might add even in children's prescription drugs like Pediatric Augmentin, pediatric vitamins and over-the-counter pediatric drugs. Also was the caution that pregnant moms that consumed aspartame appeared to pass on the cancer risk to fetuses, with the vulnerability of fetuses being such that exposure in womb seemed to add to cancer risk later in life. That parallels the human experience. Even in l985, Dr. Louis Elsas, Professor of Genetics, then at Emory University took Congress that aspartame is a neurotoxin and teratogen and causes birth defects and mental retardation. Would you ever consider a child using this deadly, deadly poison. Would you give a child arsenic? Don't allow a child to have aspartame. In fact, neurosurgeon Russell Blaylock, M.D., in a lecture said the reactions are not allergic but toxic like arsenic and cyanide. The FDA just committed such a despicable act. Knowing the new Ramazzini would make world news on Monday on Friday they sent out a release on the 2005 Ramazzini saying they didn't accept it. Of course, they didn't say way because there was no reason. You should see what the aspartame industry with their influence tried to rebut it with and got caught. First they tried to use a 16 page diet and health study questionnaire for seniors over ten years ago. It asked if you smoke, do you exercise, do you eat crackers, cookies sausage, collards, what was your highest grade in school, have you had a hysterectomy, did you eat pancakes, oatmeal or strawberries in the past year; carrots cheeseburgers, cornbread or brownies. Aspartame is named in one of 56 questions: "Over the last 12 months when you drank coffee or tea, what kind of sweetener did you regularly add?" They advertised that as a new Federal Study on 567,000 Americans by the NIH, NCI and AARP. Then the European Food Safety Authority with links to Ajinomoto came out with this "but the rats had respiratory disease which caused the cancers". They should have been ashamed of themselves. Any physician or researcher knows respiratory disease is the dying process and it doesn't cause cancer. After reporting them to the Universal Court of Justice one of the members confessed they were pressured by industry to hijack science. So the FDA had no excuses left to use.
It was absolutely criminal to put out that release on Friday with no reasons for their non-acceptance, just to stumble the public. When the public started hearing about what the FDA was saying, the new Ramazzini was making breaking news. The public simply thought that it had already been evaluated and everything was just fine. They ought to be indicted under Title 18, Section 1001, for their misinformation, and telling people aspartame never cancer when, in fact, that's the reason they revoked the petition for approval. Aspartame (NutraSweet/Equal/E951/Canderel, Spoonful, etc.) is genetically engineered in E.Coli bacteria. They take this vat of toxic sludge and press it into a white powder. There is no rhyme or reason to give a child poison. There are safe sweeteners like Just Like Sugar made only with chicory and orange peel, and an analysis requested by Dr. Blaylock showed it to be free of excitotoxins or anything that could harm anyone. It is the only thing he recommends. I understand the Just Like Sugar people are working now with schools. It goes to show you a safe sweetener that is not a chemical is easily made to give nourishment instead of poison. You can find it in such places as Whole Foods or Wild Oats.
I can't imagine you not being convinced in this letter that it's deadly to give aspartame to children or anyone so under my signature I'm going to paste in a case from Yorkshire. They removed everything but diet drinks because of obesity not knowing aspartame is responsible for obesity. Notice they thought the young man was a drug addict. After all, the methanol or wood alcohol in aspartame is classified as a narcotic. Remember if you wanted to get the truth on whether a product is a carcinogen or not you would use an "independent" institute known throughout the world as the best. That's what Ramazzini is, European Foundation for Oncology and Environmental Science in Bologna, Italy. It is the site of one of the world's largest and longest existing programs of carcinogenicity bioassays. Dr. Soffritti's research is oriented toward the identification of the causes of cancers, particularly those of industrial and environmental origin.
Dr. Soffritti is the author of more than 160 publications and serves as an expert for working groups at the International Agency for Research on Cancer in Lyon, France and the National Toxicology Commission of the Italian National Institute of Health. In 2001, Dr. Soffritti was named Secretary General of the Collegium Ramazzini. He is a teacher of Industrial and Environmental Carcinogenesis for the Specialization Schools of Oncology at the Universities of Turin and Bologna and was recently named adjunct Professor at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. Monday he received the Irving J. Selikoff Award which has only been given three times in history. It was given for his outstanding contributions to the identification of environmental and industrial carcinogens and his promotion of independent scientific research.
Would you believe Dr. Soffritti or the FDA whose own toxicologists blew the whistle to Congress. On August 1, l985 the FDA toxicologist, Dr. Adrian Gross, told Congress at least one of Searle's studies "has established beyond ANY REASONABLE DOUBT that aspartame is capable of inducing brain tumors in experimental animals and that this predisposition of it is of extremely high significance. ... In view of these indications that the cancer causing potential of aspartame is a matter that had been established WAY BEYOND ANY REASONABLE DOUBT, one can ask: What is the reason for the apparent refusal by the FDA to invoke for this food additive the so-called Delaney Amendment to the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act?"
The Delaney Amendment makes it illegal to allow any residues of cancer causing chemicals in foods. In his concluding testimony Gross asked, "Given the cancer causing potential of aspartame how would the FDA justify its position that it views a certain amount of aspartame as constituting an allowable daily intake or 'safe' level of it? Is that position in effect not equivalent to setting a 'tolerance' for this food additive and thus a violation of that law? And if the FDA itself elects to violate the law, who is left to protect the health of the public?" Congressional Record SID835:131 (August 1, l985)
So here is Dr. Gross admitting to Congress that FDA violated the law. Dr Jacqueline Verrett, another FDA toxicologist told Congress that all studies were built on a foundation of sand and should be thrown out. She testified in l987, as there were three Congressional hearings, that even at that time aspartame still had not been proven safe. It had been on the market since l981, and according to informants been sold even before it was approved.
For continually lying to the public and protecting industry instead of the public, the FDA should be disbanded and a government agency with no ties to the pharmaceutical and chemical industry be created. A copy of this note is going to the FDA, and I hope the Institute of Medicine will ask that Congress insist FDA ban aspartame and request the immediate resignation of every FDA employee who has lied in this case being responsible for the death of millions.
I thank the Institute of Medicine for continually working for the betterment in public health. Unfortunately, the FDA has betrayed the public trust and there is no place for the people to turn. I know you can be of help.

I'm writing again to Your Royal Highness about aspartame. [Canderel/NutraSweet/Equal/ E951] Forty-seven MPs have signed to have it banned.
From Yorkshire comes this vivid example of the damage this addictive excitoneurotoxic carcinogen does to the brains of children. Specifically Matthew Hobson, a victimized English boy. Sent: Wednesday, December 13, 2006:
I'm enclosing a copy of the prestigious Ecologist with a 17 page feature on it, and I believe you already have the aspartame documentary, Sweet Misery: A Poisoned World. In it attorney James Turner explains how Rumsfeld got it approved after the FDA said no. As late as 1995 FDA published a list of 92 reactions to aspartame from over 10,000 volunteered complaints. Aspartame can precipitate diabetes, aggravate and simulate diabetic retinopathy and neuropathy, destroy the optic nerve, cause diabetic convulsions, and interacts with insulin. It also makes you crave carbohydrates so you gain weight.
The Trocho Study shows that the formaldehyde converted from the free methyl alcohol accumulates in the cells and damages DNA, with most toxicity in the liver, but substantial amounts in the fat cells, kidneys, brain and retina. Last month I visited a researcher in Barcelona who was threatened by the NutraSweet Company for exposing the pre-embalming by aspartame.
Schools mistakenly advocate diet drinks exclusively. Matthew's case is no doubt repeated by thousands of innocent children in UK schools. This isn't a rare case. Dr. Baret called me from the Dominican Republic. He changed the diet of 360 small children from milk to aspartame juice and almost all of them responded with abnormal behavior, cognitive problems. Knowing this was the only change he had made he re-searched aspartame and called me. I had him remove the toxin from their diet and four days later all the children returned to normal. It is clear that if this insane practice is not stopped Matthew's case will become the norm. We email these 42 pages of articles to schools, pediatricians and OB-GYN the world over. Aspartame is a teratogen and causes birth defects and mental retardation. If the child survives and it damages the thymus gland it can have autoimmune problems all the days of his life and the DNA is probably damaged generations to come. It lowers IQ and triggers psychiatric and behavioral problems, and also interacts with medications. So no drug is safe for an aspartame consumer. The Italian Ramazzini Study has confirmed what FDA knew from the beginning, that aspartame is a multipotential carcinogen. Their new study confirms that Coca Cola causes cancer. This is a foremost European research center. The tale of how aspartame got approved in England may be unknown to Your Royal Highness: G. D. Searle Co knew they couldn't get it in other countries if it was known our FDA tried to have them indicted for fraud. They made a deal with a Professor Paul Turner in Food Standards who approved aspartame without anyone knowing. No studies were ever done in the UK. Parliament discovered it, and their dismay was reported in The Guardian. Nevertheless, approval wasn't rescinded Today there are efforts worldwide to recall aspartame. Robin Goodwin's Falkland Island heartrending story is attached. His wife had an aspartame brain tumor and his daughter suffered seizures daily for 18 years until they learned aspartame caused them. Your Royal Highness, I ask you to save many lives in the UK by removing aspartame and the aspartame manufacturers. I know you are against genetic engineering. This is a GM product. Dr. James Bowen began slurring his words and was thought to either be on alcohol or drugs. He was admitted to a mental hospital but in the hospital he was no longer on aspartame and the symptoms disappeared. He wrote:
I started using Aspartame in April 1983, when the Aspartame Lo Cal Kool Aid was first marketed. In 2 days it gave me a toxic cardiomyopathy so severe I had to then stop swimming. I then immediately lost my balance, so also had to immediately also stop going off the diving board. Deep chemical depression followed, terminating in Lou Gehrig's disease. In just six weeks of use it aged me thirty years! When I stopped using it I had many severe withdrawal symptoms, and was then diagnosed as "Bulbar Palsy."
MY RN wife was screaming at me: "Jim get off the Aspartame! It is killing you!" (I was so completely brain washed by Aspartame, that I could not even believe her!
Aspartame is very highly crafted poison, cleverly combining about ten different poisons, including :1. phenylalanine isolate poisoning. (Not all alike with dietary sources!), 2. The methyl ester-formaldehyde-formic acid- carbon monoxide toxic axis. 3.Methylated aspartic acid , (An extreme excitotoxin, implemented in many and vast brain damages! Including the common neural degenerative diseases!) 4. Diketopiperazine poisoning: Which the first toxicity studies (at 1/1000 the FDA legally requisite test dosage for only sixty days,) caused the highest incidence of brain tumor in rats that any chemical ever tested at any dosage ever caused.(The first 6 months of Aspartame soft drinks, saw a 10% increase in USA human brain cancers rates, and a 30% jump of our diabetes occurrence rate!)
When the FDA first refused licensure for Aspartame they did so, because it rapidly chelates poisonous metals out of containers and then carries them on in a totally absorbable condition, it couldn't be proven safe and triggered brain tumors. It also triggered many other types of tumors from mammary to testicular. It should be noted that Pepsi and Coke delivery drivers certify that sugar pops never damage their cans, while Aspartame beverages frequently do.)
